JDSU 5205-T Series, ITLA, 50GHz 89CH DWDM Tunable Laser Source Module

JDSU Tunable lasers are a key component in today’s agile transmission modules that are designed to support the rapid deployment of next generation Internet Protocol bases voice, data and video services.

The 5205-T integrabel tunable laser assemblies (TOSA based ITLA) are tailored for the needs of advanced modules that require fast wavelength tuning over C-band or L-band, respectively, in an MSA form factor with reduced power consumption. The architecture and command set is based on the familiar OFT-ITLA-MSA standard.

The key elements of the 5205-T ITLAs are the Sampled Grating Distributed Bragg Reflector lasers, monolithically integrated with a semiconductor optical amplifier and an integral wavelength locker, all enclosed in a high reliability, hermetically sealed TOSA package.

The integrated SOA acts as a shutter during wavelength switching and as an optional variable optical attenuator for pre-emphasis of transmitter power levels to optimize link performance.

The RS232 communication interface is based on the OIF MSA standard and provides for comprehensive control and reporting functionality. This TOSA based ITLA has a polarization-maintaining fiber pigtail and is shipped with an SC or FC connector to facilitate incoming test prior to splicing.
